Knife Steel X50CrMOV15:
X50CrMOV15 Alloying components:
Â
Definition - Molybdenum:
This is a 5th period transition metal. The high strength, tough and hard metal has a silvery white luster. Of all the 5th period elements, it has the highest melting point, which is 2,623 °C. Like its heavy homologue tungsten, it is not attacked by non-oxidizing acids (including hydrofluoric acid). For this reason, molybdenum is used in large quantities for the production of acid-resistant stainless steels and nickel materials. Molybdenum is used for hardening and for preventing temper embrittlement of steel
Definition - Vanadium:
Also obsoletely vanadium, is a chemical element with the symbol V and atomic number 23. It is a steel-gray, bluish shimmering transition metal that is very soft in the pure state. The melting point is 1,910 °C.
Â
X50CrMOV15Â is a rust and acid resistant, very hard blade steel. Unlike 18/10 CrNi steel, this alloy is 100% nickel-free, which is suspected of causing allergic reactions. The special ingredients in this blade steel strengthen the protection against corrosion and pitting while increasing the strength of the steel.
So with X50CrMoV15, you get a blade steel that is very robust and wear resistant while remaining very corrosion resistant and easy to maintain. Knives made of X50CrMoV15 have a fine grind and long-lasting sharpness. In addition, such a knife can be very easily resharpened later if necessary.
